Haryana upset holders Orissa, face Manipur in final Top

The teams were locked goalless in the 80-minute of regulation period and 20 minutes of extra time. Even the regular tie-breaker session could not resolve the dispute and the match was extended to sudden death period. With their maiden entry into the final, Haryana will now lock horns with runners-up Manipur who earlier had blanked Sikkim by 3-0. The final will be played on July 30 at the Sector 17 Football Stadium. The spectators were treated to thrilling soccer. With attacks and counter-attacks, Orissa and Haryana kept the spectators spell-bound with their fast attacking moves. In the regular tie-breaker, Haryana and Orissa converted four penalties each. For Orissa, Rashmita Patra, Lochana Mundu, Phulamani Tudu, Rashmita Ghatuary converted their penalties while Momti Bara sent her spot kick out which was the turning point in favour of Haryana. Taruan converted her spot kick to make it 1-1 but Sonia's penalty was saved by substitute Orissa goalkeeper Swarna Mayee Samal. Pooja, Shalu and Preeti converted their penalties to make it 4-all. In the sudden death tie-breaker, Pratimam Minz scored for Orissa while Riya Arya restored parity for Haryana (5-5). Janjali Sahu shot her penalty straight into the hands of Haryana goalkeeper Preeti. Reena then clinched the issue in favour of Haryana with a calculated spot kick. Orissa had their best chance to score and earn the right to challenge Manipur for trophy. In the 17th minute of extra time, a fierce goalmouth occurred in front of the Haryana goal and Janjali Sahu had all the time at her disposal to score from a close range. However, she misdirected her shot which went across the goalmouth. Haryana's best opportunity to score came in the 37th minute. Manpreet Kaur gave a forward pass to Taruna who in her anxiety shot wide of the right pole. The most impressive player for Haryana was Sonia who kept the forwards on their toes with regular feeding and tackling.

MANIPUR ENTER FINAL BY BEATING SIKKIM 3-0 Top
Manipur 3-0 Sikkim (1-0 S.Rinaroy Devi (12′), 2-0 E.Bindyarani Devi (23′), 3-0 Y Kamala Devi (67′) Last year's runners-up Manipur blanked Sikkim by 3-0 in the semi-final match of the 9th Junior National Girls Under-19 Football Championship being conducted by the Chandigarh Football Association at the Punjab Engineering College ground here this morning. The Manipur squad, coached by M Surmala Chanu, enjoyed the territorial supremacy. Their fowards combined welll with short passes and made best use of the chances which came their way. The Sikkim team, trained by Palden Bhutia, tried their best to attack their rivals with breakaway moves. . Manipur slowly started asserting themselves with quick passes. Their moves bore fruits in the 12th minute when S Rinaroy Devi made a solo effort dribbling her way into the box before scoring with a perfect shot. Maintaining their pressure, Manipur increased the margin after E Bindiyarani Devi smartly headed the ball into the net after receiving a pass from the left wing in the 23rd minute. Then came Sikkim's best chance in the 24th minute but Nim Doma Bhutia was denied a goal by Manipur goalkeeper Roshini Devi who stood like a China wall. Y Kamla Devi unleashed a full-blooded shot from top of the dee to complete the winners' tally in the 67th minute.
