[Photo Feature]: One day trip to Talakad - Gaganachukki - Barachukki | Top |
It was quite long time since my previous short trip so i decided to do some places near Mysore. Compared to Bangalore, Mysore is gifted with lots of visiting places around. I called up my friend who rides a Yamaha SZ-X to check with him, finally we decided to make it as one day trip on Saturday. We planned to cover these places: Gaganachukki Falls Barachukki Falls Talakad Somnathpur temple Left Bangalore early morning and by 6.45 we were on the Mysore highway. The route was pretty simple Bangalore->chennapatna->Maddur->Left Turn-> Malavalli-> From here follow the route boards. At Maddur, we stopped for a breakfast at Maddur Tiffany's. The hotel was good. We spent about half an hour there enjoying idli's and Maddur Vadas. From there, proceeded to malavalli which is 40kms from Maddur. Roads were pretty good. Took couple of photobreaks. Flowers on the roadside We first visited Gaganchukki falls. No much crowd in this place. Bharachukki is much better place than Gaganchukki in terms of views. Snaps from gaganchukki Pics from Bharachukki falls Should cross a river, Looks easy but this was dangerous, fell twice while crossing.Suffered minor cuts on my palms and feet. Very Slippery!! I am in yellow Shirt :) On the way back, had lunch in some Restaurant. After lunch, we proceeded to Talakad. There is no road to this place, we had to ride on mud road for about 5 - 6 kms. Talakad Snaps: Someone said Somnathpur temple closes at 5pm, but it was already 6pm. Couldn't go there, so that was the end of the trip. we headed back to bangalore. Reached home at 10pm. Totally 300kms travelled, the highest i have done in one day. Thanks to my Bike, My N8 lens and my friend :P)

India's London Dreams end | Top |
by sportswire4u.blogspot.com PUNE, JUNE 24 For all the talent, thrust, preparation and dominance the slate stays blank for India's U-23 squad. Their dreams of making it to the 2012 London Olympics ended at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune on Thursday. A match which India should have won handsomely ended 1-1. Result: India's London Dreams ends. Qatar who won the first leg 3-1 at the Al Sadd Stadium won 4-2 on aggregate. As the Indians headed to the tunnel after the end of the match, they couldn't help pondering why the Almighty thought it best to conspire against them. Instance 1: Striker Jeje Lalpeklua failed to tap it in with the goalkeeper at his mercy in the 10 th minute – Raju Gaikwad's first throw-in putting him in a scoring position. Instance 2: In the 19 th minute, Lalrindika Ralte failed to convert from the spot, a diving Sadd Al Sheeb palming his effort away. The spot-kick was awarded after Murad Hussein handled Jeje's shot in the box. Instance 3: Shilton D'Silva fails to connect Jewel Raja's shot from inside the box in the 44 th minute. Again, it was all initiated by another of Raju's long-throws. Instance 4: Jeje fails to put it past the rival goalkeeper in the 71 st minute from a hand-shaking distance. In between, the Indians had surged into the lead as Khaled Muftah slotted it into his own net in the 54 th minute only for Qatar's Mohammed Elneel to volley it in past Laxmikant Kattimani. That was the only scoring chance Qatar had. "We were distinctly unlucky not to win," Coach Desmond Bulpin uttered. National Team Coach Armando Colaco standing next who had come all the way from Delhi, besides lauding Bulpin and his boys said: "The future of Indian football stays in safe hands." The Indians pressed hard and didn't allow the 'technically better,' Qatar side the maneuvering space in the midfield. Unlike the first-leg in Doha Hasan Al Haydos wasn't allowed the space by the Indian midfield. Jewel Raja and Shilton closing him up. Post-match consolations came from every corner. This is India's best-ever performance against Qatar. Spare a thought for India's U-21 boys. They should have been there in the next round – but life is not always a dream. Goalkeeper: Laxmikant Kattimani, Defenders: Abhishek Das (Jagtar Singh), Arnab Mondal, Raju Gaikwad, Gurjinder Kumar. Midfielders : Lalrindika, Jewel Raja (Milan Singh), Shilton D'Silva, Jibon Singh. Forwards: Jeje Lalpeklua, CS Sabeeth (Manandeep).
